4 Dec 2023 – Simon Tack, PhD student from the Van Breusegem lab (PSB, Ghent, Belgium), joins the lab for a two-week visit to learn the laser wounding technique. After an initial cold shock, he is acclimating very well in the North!
01 Aug 2023 – The lab had a bit of a growth spurt. In the past two months, three postdocs have joined. We welcome Yong Zou, Maxence James, and Shanna Romand to the lab.
11 Apr 2023 – PhD students Shuning Qi and Dominic Kuang finally arrive to the lab after being admitted to SLU in December last year! The lab is taking shape.
2022
01 Dec 2022 – First postdoc, Shamik Mazumdar, starts in the lab. Ready for a new adventure!
15 Sept 2022 – Grant agreement for ERC 2021 COG project DETOXPEST signed and scheduled to start in Feb 2023.
01 Sept 2022 – Official start of the Stael lab at SLU in Uppsala! Let´s do this!
24 May 2022 – Simon Stael was awarded an ERC 2021 Consolidator grant! In the project DETOXPEST we will strive to enhance insecticide selectivity to help combat insect decline. Thanks to the continued support of colleagues and collaborators at Ghent University (UGent) and the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB) to help make this a reality.
2021
26 Nov 2021 – Just received the call from the vice-chancellor from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU): I am appointed as one of the 27 new Wallenberg Academy Fellows in 2021! The funding from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation will help to kick-start my lab at SLU.
